About the Role

Cleary Gottlieb, a preeminent global law firm with 17 offices on four continents, created ClearyX, a separate business unit within the firm, to focus on building alternative models of legal services. ClearyX uses a unique combination of technology, people and process to create efficient, high quality legal services and products to support the firm and its clients.

ClearyX is seeking to hire a Sales Director to lead revenue growth and expand market adoption of the firm’s proprietary legal technology solutions and alternative legal service offerings.

The Sales Director will carry a personal quota and be directly responsible for winning new business and expanding existing accounts. The role is “consultative” in nature, requiring the ability to synthesise client needs and requirements and ensure client success. It offers the opportunity to shape the future of ClearyX by identifying new business opportunities, driving revenue growth, and building strategic partnerships. As Sales Director, you will lead our go-to-market initiatives, build high-performing sales processes, and establish ClearyX as the preferred partner for legal professionals seeking innovative technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies that support the overall business growth plan and respond proactively to market trends;
  • Identify new business opportunities by closely monitoring industry developments and leveraging insights to inform decision-making;
  • Own and drive the full sales cycle – from prospecting and lead qualification through to contract negotiation and closure – carrying an individual revenue target;
  • Design and execute lead generation strategies that directly contribute to increased pipeline and sales performance;
  • Develop and maintain sales forecasting and pipeline models, and regular reporting to senior leadership;
  • Represent ClearyX at industry events, acting as an ambassador to enhance reputation and expand professional networks;
  • Monitor key performance indicators related to revenue generation, client retention and satisfaction, and market share expansion, and
  • Support and participate in client demos, pitches, and other opportunities to promote our solutions to clients and prospects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in legal tech, with at least 5 years in increasingly senior sales roles.
  • A proven track record of developing and growing revenue streams;
  • Extensive experience managing client accounts with a focus on delivering measurable account growth alongside consistently high customer satisfaction ratings;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that enable you to build trust-based relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels;
  • A collaborative approach that encourages open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect within your team environment;
  • Strong analytical abilities allowing you to interpret market data effectively and translate insights into actionable business plans, and
  • A curiosity about the challenges within the legal industry and an understanding of how ClearyX solutions can address these issues.
